Hi, I’m Mikaya Green — Chair of the Friendlier City Project, an LGBTQ+ nonprofit based in Wheeling, West Virginia.

This piece was created as part of a protest art collaboration with YNST Magazine for our Pride on the Plaza event. It’s a satirical work that challenges the prioritization of religious conservatism over LGBTQ+ rights in West Virginia. Through this piece, I aim to spark conversation and call attention to the ways queer communities are often silenced in the name of tradition.
